South Australian Professional Photography Awards 2014

What a fantastic week! The South Australian Professional Photography Awards are over for another year!

It was a rush of inspiration and talent this year finishing up with our night of nights last evening at Morphetville racecourse for the announcement of the winners.

This year I was the proud recipient of the Contemporary Photographic Art Prize which is very dear to my heart.

This beautiful prize is  also a very helpful and relevant addition to my business and to the direction that I am heading in. Two of the images entered were taken at my Adelaide workshop earlier this year and another Silver Award in Illustrative was from my Auckland Workshop so if you are interested in seeing how these artworks are constructed then make sure you book in for the next one in September where we go from the initial ideas through to the finished prints.

Congrats to the other category winners...Kate Ellis (Family) and next door neighbour, Ky Luu (Wedding), Hilary Hann (Landscape and Illustrative,) Terry Hann (Editorial), Karen Waller (Portrait), Shona Henderson (Travel) and to Peter Carroll (emerging member) and also to Aaron Citti for the Epson print award. Huge Congrats to David Sievers for taking the Commercial Category and the title of PPY with his outstanding work.

You can see all the beautiful images here

There are loads of people to thank for their help getting these images on the wall but special thanks goes to my models Lauren, Dani, Montana, and Hattie. They were all shot over the last year at Brownhill Creek and Robe and also on the side of the road. Thanks also to Grier Neilson for Montanas makeup, Jacqui Bateman for sharing some of her secret locations and The Supreme Goddesses for their love and support over the year. I'd also like to thank my family and my husband in particular for being so supportive of the studio (and building my new Springbank studio in particular)...Ive had lots of yummy meals cooked and been well looked after x

Also huge thanks to the models of the images entered into Illustrative and Portrait....Anya, Hannah, Charlotte, Jazmyn, Nathan, Kate, Maddie and Eloise.

I ended up with A Gold Award in the Contemporary Art Prize (and won it) and 6 Silver Awards out of 8 in Portrait and Illustrative (the other two were a respectable 78 and 79) so couldn't be happier....

This is 'Entangled'...

Biggest thanks of all goes to the sponsors - The Light Gallery - where the Art Prize Exhibition is on until the end of July .....you must see them in person and the lovely work of the other entrants....and the other category award winners will be on exhibition at the Wine Centre for the rest of July too.....here are the Contemporary Art Prize Images and my Artist Statement
